Rebel Without a Cause/Sweet Little Sixteen: The Social Construction of the Teenager in American Cult

This course studies the social construction of the teenager in the America of the 40s, 50s, and 60s through music, fiction, film and journalism in an attempt to understand why postwar America constructs this category and defines it as a consumer culture.
