This introduction to fiction will consider shaped narrative and its effects on everyday life. Students will read novels and memoirs offering different narrative templates. We will examine moments of narrative failure, panic, and outrage in contemporary life, including the Challenger explosion, the O.J. Simpson trial, Princess Diana's death.
