Recent Indian Fiction and Poetry in English
ENGL216 FA

Indian fiction has caught international attention in the past few years. As the growing number of Indian literary works published in English illustrates, English is no longer the language of the colonists. This course includes poetry, fiction, postcolonial and feminist theory to uncover class and gender contradictions in writings within India and the Indian Diaspora. In addition, we will discuss the history of 20th century Indo-Anglian literature, the politics of translation, and the represent ation of India as the sun sets on the age of nationalism.
