Creative Nonfiction
ENGL105 SP

This course offers practice in various forms of nonfiction, including interviews, profiles, personal essays, and critical analysis.

MAJOR READINGS

Contemporary nonfiction and fiction, including pieces by George Orwell, Vladimir Nabokov, Virginia Woolf, Joan Didion, Ralph Ellison, Gore Vidal, Lillian Hellman, Lois Gould and David Sedaris.

EXAMINATIONS AND ASSIGNMENTS

Weekly writing exercises.

ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS and/or COMMENTS

To apply, please submit a 3-5 page writing sample of fiction or nonfiction, along with your name, class, and e-mail address to Sheila Kelleher, English Department secretary, 285 Court St. Room 110 by Wednesday, January 26, 2000. No poetry or academic papers. A class list will be posted in the English Department Office and students will be notified by email. Attendance at every class is required. Students admitted must attend the first class in order to hold their place.

Unless preregistered students attend the first class meeting or communicate directly with the instructor prior to the first class, they will be dropped from the class list. NOTE: Students must still submit a completed Drop/Add form to the Registrar's Office.
