Stratigraphy and Structure of North America
E&ES375 SP

A thorough and comprehensive review of the tectonic development of the North American continent. The course will begin with a summary of basic stratigraphic and tectonic principles. The historical evolution of the continent will then be analyzed through the study of the structural and stratigraphic evidence that this evolution imprinted on the rock record.

MAJOR READINGS

Readings from several texts and the primary literature.

EXAMINATIONS AND ASSIGNMENTS

Two 1 1/2 hour exams and several short in-class presentations by the students will be required.
