This is a majors course designed to examine, in detail, the characteristics that make Long Island Sound one of the nation's most important estuaries. Equal attention will be paid to the historical, physical, geological, chemical, and biological facets of the Sound. Some attention will also be paid to the anthropogenic factors that interact with the basic dynamics of the Sound to give us the present state of the Long Island Sound.
