History of the Earth

This course is a survey of the geological development of the earth and its connection to the origin and evolution of organisms. Topics include: the formation of the earth, the origin of life during the Precambrian, plate tectonic movements throughout earth history, invertebrate and vertebrate extinctions and adaptive radiations, and the relationship between the evolution of the physical earth and its environments and the evolution of the biosphere.
