Introductory Microeconomics
ECON111 SP
This one-semester introduction to microeconomic analysis and its application to issues of public policy will focus on how resources are allocated in a market economy. Topics covered will include international trade,
competition, monopoly, income
distribution, and the economic role of government. Emphasis on the U.S. economy.
MAJOR READINGS
Introductory textbook to be assigned; Additional readings from various sources, e.g. the ECONOMIST, on policy topics.
EXAMINATIONS AND ASSIGNMENTS
Problem sets, two exams.

Prerequisite: A working knowledge of elementary high school algebra is established by passing the mathematics placement examination given to all freshmen, by completing MATH107 or a higher number course offered by the
Wesleyan Mathematics Department, or
by obtaining advance placement in Calculus.
