East Asian Studies Senior Seminar
EAST398 FA

Crosslistings: ALIT398

This seminar has three major goals: to enhance the research skills and build research methods among participants; to engage participants in a research project, which can be either a project already planned (such as a senior thesis or essay) or one undertaken entirely within the course; and to help create a sense of intellectual camaraderie among East Asian Studies seniors. During the first part of the semester students will be given small research problems to solve, on which they will report in c lass. The last half of the semester will focus on multiple drafts of a written research project; students in the course will read each other's work and mutually offer suggestions and criticisms. Each session will include a few short readings to stimulate discussion.
