Comparative and Functional Anatomy of the Vertebrates
BIOL311 SP

PREREQUISITES: BIOL206 AND MB&B205 AND BIOL207 groups. Lectures will cover musculoskeletal systems and associated biomechanics, osmoregulation and excretory function in both aquatic and terrestrial vertebrates, basic reproduction, cardiovascular, respiratory and nervous systems. Seminars will provdide students with the opportunity to explore how these basic morphological systems vary according to lifestyle and habitat of different vertebrate groups. Upon completing lectures on basic vertebrate anatomy, students will prepare and deliver a one- hour seminar on a subject chosen by the student. Acceptable topics will be presented at the beginning of the semester so that each student will be able to thoroughly research the subject matter prior to presentation to the class.
