Functional Vertebrate Morphology

In addition to providing an overview of the origin and evolution of the vertebrates the course will cover skeletal, muscular, digestive, reproductive, nervous and circulatory systems. This half credit course investigates the functional morphology of the vertebrate body through dissection of certain classic lab organisms. Students will be introduced to the anatomical and functional characteristics which allow the different vertebrate groups to make a living in different ways. A final report will allow students to investigate the comparative anatomy of a given systems in a variety of vertebrates.

EXAMINATIONS AND ASSIGNMENTS

Weekly lab practicals, final report and lab participation.

Unless preregistered students attend the first class meeting or communicate directly with the instructor prior to the first class, they will be dropped from the class list. NOTE: Students must still submit a completed Drop/Add form to the Registrar's Office.
