Genetics and Its Human Concerns
BIOL101 SP
Our understanding of heredity will be reviewed in Mendelian terms and refined and extended in chemical terms. Throughout, there will be emphasis on understanding scientific inquiry as exemplified by genetics. Also, the
relations of genetic engineering to
individual concerns and social need is examined.
MAJOR READINGS
Human Genetics textbook (To be announced later).
EXAMINATIONS AND ASSIGNMENTS
Three exams, one term paper/poster presentation, four problem sets or short writing assignments.

Unless preregistered students attend the first class meeting or communicate directly with the instructor prior to the first class, they will be dropped from the class list. NOTE: Students must still submit a completed
