Scientific Research Ethics

Ethical questions encountered in conducting scientific research are becoming topics of increasing scrutiny by both scientists and nonscientists. The focus of the course will be an examination of the responsible conduct
of scientific research through
case studies and readings from the scientific literature.
MAJOR READINGS
Macrina, SCIENTIFIC INTEGRITY
Current scientific literature and related press accounts.
EXAMINATIONS AND ASSIGNMENTS
Evaluation will be based on participation in class discussions and weekly written assignments.
ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS and/or COMMENTS
Permission of instructor required. Application forms are available from the Chemistry office. This course is particularly designed for Undergraduate and Graduate students with current or previous experience in a
scientific research project. It counts
toward major requirements in Chemistry, Physics, and SISP.
