Advanced Practice--Photography
ARST454 SP

This course offers continued exploration of black-and-white photography as an art form. Classes will include investigation of available and artificial light, and supervised lab sessions and critiques, some conducted by other members of the Wesleyan faculty.

EXAMINATIONS AND ASSIGNMENTS

Periodic submission on contact proofs and prints.

ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS and/or COMMENTS

Students must supply their own camera and tripod. Lab fee of $80.00 includes chemicals and studio operation costs. Some individual work with video still photography tentatively planned. SELECTION FOR ADVANCED PRACTICE - Selection will be by portfolio review, place and location will be announced outside the photo lab in the basement of Zilkha Gallery. Students selected by this review process will be expected to enroll during the first drop/add period. MAKE-UP PORTFOLIO - Portfolios should i nclude a minimum of ten exhibition quality prints and twelve rolls of film with corresponding contact proof sheets. Prints and negatives must have been processed by you. This is a minimum requirement, additional materials welcome. Students selected fo r this course must attend the first class meeting or be subject to automatic withdrawal from the course. Unless preregistered students attend the first class meeting or communicate directly with the instructor prior to the first class, they will be droppe d from the class list. NOTE: Students must still submit a completed Drop/Add form to the Registrar's Office.
