Typology in Renaissance Art
ARHA321 FA

This seminar will investigate the structuring of artistic content by means of types, such as the altarpiece, and within the types, subcategories, such as the saint's altarpiece or the narrative altarpiece. The concern of the seminar will be not just to isolate viable typologies from c.1300 to c.1600, but to see whether they determined style and to chart their changes over time.
