1876: The Centennial Year

A freshman seminar for students considering a major in Art History or American Studies, this course examines the making and marketing of painting, sculpture, photography and the decorative arts in the United States
during the centennial year of 1876.
Particular focus will be given to the organization and history of the Centennial Exhibition, held at Philadelphia.

Class presentation, researach paper.

If possible, field trips to New York and Philadelphia will be scheduled. Unless preregistered students attend the first class meeting or communicate directly with the instructor prior to the first class, they will be
dropped from the class list. NOTE:
Students must still submit a completed Drop/Add form to the Registrar's Office.
