This course will seek to introduce a unified perspective on the body of music produced by two of the great music masters of this century. The focus of the course will seek to establish both a historical perspective and structural survey of their work--using composers' scores, recordings and related material/documents. Lots of listening and listening assignments as well as score examination (when possible). There will be weekly listening assignments, four papers, one research paper and two liste ning recognition tests.
