Politics of Urban Development

This course will analyze how the political and economic system in urban areas interact to produce what many have referred to as "the urban crisis." We will examine the structures of metropolitan governance, the politics of redistribution, grassroots politics in urban and suburban communities, and the feasibility of integration all with an emphasis on how the politics of race and class shapes/defines the terms of each debate.
