A history of drama and theater, with examples from classical
Greek and Roman, Asian, medieval, Renaissance and
17th-century Baroque theater will be discussed. Play texts
will be chosen from ancient classical drama, Japanese,
Indian, and Chinese drama, medieval mysteries and
moralities, Italian Renaissance, English Elizabethan and
Jacobean, Spanish Golden Age and French neo-classical
dramatic history.
MAJOR READINGS
History text, essays, and representative
plays.
