SECTION 01: This section of Acting I is for first year students with little or no experience in acting, but an avid interest in theater. It will be an introduction to theater through the study of the acting process. Topics will include some theater history and the basic elements of the various approaches to acting available to the beginning actor. Students will present exercises, monologues and scenes for critique in class. Admission by preregistration. SECTION 02: An introduction to acting with an emphasis on scene study and character development.

EXAMINATIONS AND ASSIGNMENTS

SECTION 01: One or more monologues, two or three short scenes, various exercises. SECTION 02: Weekly performance assignments, an acting journal.

SECTION 01: None SECTION 02: Unless preregistered students attend the first class meeting or communicate with the instructor prior to the first class, they will be dropped from the class list. NOTE: Students must still submit a completed Drop/Add form to the Registrar's Office.
