Introduction to Theater

Students explore how the various theater arts (writing, directing, acting and designing) combine to produce a dramatic performance. Readings, lectures and discussions include a survey of theater history and a representative selection of plays, supplemented by guest artist visits from the faculty and other professional theater artists. Students submit written critiques of theatre performances, scene studies, midterm and final examinations.

Selected plays, critical essays, and an
introductory textbook.
