This seminar will examine current theories and research in perception, attention, and memory from psychophysical, physiological, and cognitive neuroscience perspectives. Students will lead discussions of relevant journal articles and conduct supervised research. Some of the topics to be covered include word recognition; picture recognition; selective attention; divided attention and visual hemi-inattention; true and false memories.

MAJOR READINGS

Review chapters, journal articles.

EXAMINATIONS AND ASSIGNMENTS

Each student will be responsible for leading discussions during the term. Students will write a final paper and present it orally to the class.

This course is part of the Neuroscience and Behavioral program. If student does not meet prerequisite requirements, please see instructor. Unless preregistered students attend the first class meeting or communicate directly with the instructor prior to the first class, they will be dropped from the class list. NOTE: Students must still submit a completed Drop/Add form to the Registrar's Office.
