Cognitive Neuroscience: Mechanism of the Mind

This course deals with the basic ideas of cognitive neuroscience, a recent and dynamic area of research. Cognitive neuroscience addresses some of cognitive psychology's central issues through an interdisciplinary approach; it integrates theories and research methods from cognitive psychology, neuroscience and computer science. We will discuss selected topics on perception, attention, imagery, memory, and language processing.

A series of journal papers, published in COGNITIVE
NEUROSICENCE, SCIENCE, PERCEPTION AND PSYCHOPHYSICS,
TRENDS IN NEUROSCIENCE, COGNITIVE NEUROPSYCHOLOGY, etc.

EXAMINATIONS AND ASSIGNMENTS

Two exams and one final paper. All students are required to read the primary readings and be prepared to discuss them. The supplementary readings are optional with the exception of the few articles that each student will present in class.

ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS and/or COMMENTS

Unless preregistered students attend the first class meeting or communicate directly with the instructor prior to the first class, they will be dropped from the class list. NOTE: Students must still submit a completed Drop/Add form to the Registrar's Office.
