This course will use computers to analyze behavioral and biological data. Students will use computer programs for spreadsheets, statistics, electrophysiology, behavioral analysis, kinematics, and graphics. They will learn to write simple BASIC programs for customized data analyses, using data from various sources including ongoing research in psychology and neuroscience laboratories at Wesleyan. The course will be organized around projects that analyze raw data, draw conclusions, and generate presentation graphics.

GB-Stat Reference manual
Running Excel
Reserved readings on basic concepts in statistics and
numerical analysis.
Reserved readings from research literature illustrating
types of analyses.

EXAMINATIONS AND ASSIGNMENTS

Approximately ten short reports including results of analysis, illustrations, and written conclusions.

ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS and/or COMMENTS

PSYC majors: PSYC201/214. Other life science students: any college math background. Unless preregistered students attend the first class meeting or communicate directly with the instructor prior to the first class, they will be dropped from the class list. NOTE: Students must still submit a completed Drop/Add form to the Registrar's Office.
