Research Methods in Cognition

This course will examine the experimental method as a means of gaining knowledge about human cognition. At the start of the semester, students will obtain a structured research experience by working with the instructor on a class project in cognitive psychology. For the remainder of the semester, students will work on their own research projects conducted under the supervision of the instructor.

MAJOR READINGS

One textbook on research methods, tutorial
chapters on relevant topics and journal articles of
original research

EXAMINATIONS AND ASSIGNMENTS

Writing assignments on drafts of research and one major paper (15-20 pages) written in journal style that will describe the empirical research conducted during the semester.

If a student does not meet prerequisite requirements, please see instructor. Unless preregistered students attend the first class meeting or communicate directly with the instructor prior to the first class, they will be dropped from the class list. NOTE: Students must still submit a completed Drop/Add form to the Registrar's Office.
