This lecture-discussion course is devoted to left-wing
Hegelianism during the 1830s and 40s, in which an
increasingly radical critique of religion developed and
passed over into theories of social revolution and cultural
transformation, represented in Marx and Nietzsche. Readings
in Hegel, D.F. Strauss, Bruno Bauer, Ludwig Feuerbach, Karl
Marx, Max Stirner, Soren Kierkegaard, and Friedrich
Nietzsche.

All students other
than COL majors must register for A-F.
This course fulfills a "Critical Theory" requirement for
Religion majors.
Unless preregistered students attend the first class meeting
or communicate directly with the instructor prior to the
first class, they will be dropped from the class list.
NOTE: Students must still submit a completed Drop/Add form
to the Registrar's Office.
