An introduction to the problems and methods of musical
scholarship, surveying and applying past and present
approaches for the study of the creation, performance
analysis and transmission of music in different cultural
settings.
MAJOR READINGS
Assigned readings to be announced.
EXAMINATIONS AND ASSIGNMENTS
One research paper required;
individual reports weekly.

Unless
preregistered students attend the first class meeting or
communicate directly with the instructor prior to the first
class, they will be dropped from the class list. NOTE:
Students must still submit a completed Drop/Add form to the
Registrar's Office.
