The Genetics of Cell Proliferation

This course will cover a range of molecular approaches
toward understanding the process of cell proliferation. We
will discuss how the cell division cycle is executed and
regulated in systems from yeast to humans. The topics to be
discussed will include cell-division-cycle mutants in yeast,
cyclin-dependent kinases as cell-cycle regulators, DNA
replication and DNA damage checkpoints, and oncogenes and
tumor suppressors.

One paper and one final exam.
ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS and/or COMMENTS
This is a half
semester course. It will be taught the second half of the
semester. This course must be added by November 4. You
have until November 14 to withdraw from this course.
Unless preregistered students attend the first class meeting
or communicate directly with the instructor prior to the
first class, they will be dropped from the class list.
NOTE: Students must still submit a completed Drop/Add form
to the Registrar's office.
