MATH117
Introductory Calculus, Part I
MATH117 SP
Not Currently Offered
Designed for students with sound pre-calculus skills, and
limited or no prior experience with Calculus. The course
will treat the differentiation and integration of algebraic,
exponential and logarithmic functions, with applications to
other disciplines; theory will be treated lightly. MATH117
is potentially terminal, though its sequel, MATH118, is
offered. Students who do well in MATH117 may proceed to
MATH122.
MAJOR READINGS

EXAMINATIONS AND ASSIGNMENTS
Frequent homework, 2 or 3 hour
examinations and a final examination.
ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS and/or COMMENTS
Students who have
had a year of calculus in high school should not take
MATH117. MATH117 is not open to anyone who scored 3 or
better on either (AB or BC) AP Calculus exam. Students may
not get credit for more than one of MATH115, MATH117, and
MATH121.
