An overview of the history of Jews in the United States since the great migration of the late 19th century. Many aspects of the story will be considered, including the causes of migration, the intense drive to Americanize, socialism and trade unionism, the nature of anti-Semitism, changing conceptions of Judaism, response to Nazism, and Zionism.
