Citizens and the American State GOVT201 FA

In this introduction to the development of citizenship in the American political system and to mechanisms of democratic accountability, central concern is the relationship of citizens to political leaders, in particular in the modes of political participation by which citizens attempt to hold political leaders responsible for their actions. These modes include representation and appointment, nominations and elections, campaigns and political finance, political parties, interest groups, and social movements. This course is designed especially for sophomores and juniors.
