This course is designed for students who have taken German in high school or learned some German at home or in a German-speaking country. It will provide a review and will continue with the basic language skills: speaking, listening, reading and writing. By the end of the semester, students will have the ability to speak and understand simple German, an understanding of German grammar, the capacity to read nontechnical texts, and insight into German culture. Students will work individually and as a group with multimedia materials. Five class meetings per week.

EXAMINATIONS AND ASSIGNMENTS

Weekly tests, daily assignments, midterm and final examinations.

ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS and/or COMMENTS

Placement in this course will be determined by the placement test administered during Orientation, followed by interview with the instructor. Regular attendance and class participation required.
