The course will be devoted principally to close readings,
analysis and discussion of the major representatives of
classical drama in 17th-century France: in tragedy,
Corneille and Racine; in comedy, Moliere. Recent criticism
of these writers will be discussed to examine the strong
influence they continue to exert on the modern imagination.

EXAMINATIONS AND ASSIGNMENTS
Two short and 1 longer paper.
No examination.
ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS and/or COMMENTS
Course conducted
entirely in French.
Unless preregistered students attend the first class meeting
or communicate directly with the instructor prior to the
first class, they will be dropped from the class list.
NOTE: Students must still submit a completed Drop/Add form
to the Registrar's Office.
