French in Action is a multimedia course that combine video, audio, and print to teach French language and culture as complementarty facets of a single reality. It puts you in the presence of authentic, unsimplified French and trains you to use it in the dynamic context of actual communication. A complete, carefully sequenced course, it involves you actively in your own learning anad emphasizes communicative proficiency--not the study of rules and regulations, but the development of skills, self-expression, and cultural insight. FREN116 is the fourth and final semester of the four-semester introductory and intermediate French language sequence.

EXAMINATIONS AND ASSIGNMENTS

Weekly writing assignments and quizzes, a final examination.

ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS and/or COMMENTS

Students are expected to spend three hours a week viewing videos and practicing in the language laboratory. Students are required to attend one T.A. session a week (one hour). This course is intended for students who have completed FREN115 or FREN111 with a grade of B or better or have placed into FREN112 through the placement test this fall. Students who have not done so should consult with the professor before preregistering. Unless preregistered students attend the first class meeting or communicate directly with the instructor prior to the first class, they will be dropped from the class list. NOTE: Students must still submit a completed Drop/Add form to the Registrar's Office.
