It will cover international cinema, including major movements and trends in Hollywood, Germany, France, Italy and Japan, as well as the documentary and experimental traditions. The history of technological developments in sound, color and widescreen will be included. It is designed to be a class for those wishing to declare the film major as well as a general education class. This course is one of several that may be used to gain entry into further work in film studies. (A mark of B+ or better in any course used to enter the film major is required.)

Attendance required. Course fee: $40.00. Unless preregistered students attend the first class meeting or communicate directly with the instructor prior to the first class, they will be dropped from the class list. NOTE: Students must still submit a completed Drop/Add form to the Registrar's Office.
