Practice in writing screenplays, and a consideration of screenwriting's role in the art of film-making. through a detailed examination of scene structure and editing techniques, the course will emphasize the difference between screenwriting and other forms of narrative writing.

ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS and/or COMMENTS

To apply for admission, submit a cover sheet including your name, box, phone, email address, class year, and major, and a writing sample (10 pages maximum). If possible, your sample should be screenwriting or other creative work. Deliver this material to Prof. Jeanine Basinger, Film Studies Program, 301 Washington Terrace, by DECEMBER 14TH. The class list will be posted at the English dept (285 Court St) and at the Film Studies Program office before the first day of classes in Jan. Preference in admission given to English majors and Film Studies majors, but we encourage others to apply. Unless preregistered students attend the first class meeting or communicate directly with the instructor prior to the first class, they will be dropped from the class list. NOTE: Students must still submit a completed Drop/Add form to the Registrar's Office.
