ENGL170
Dialogue is Action
ENGL170 SP
Crosslistings: FILM325
Not Currently Offered
This writing course is designed to help students develop and
advance stories through writing short scenes. Scenes will be
given informal, staged readings by members of the group at
weekly group meetings as part of workshop discussions of
student work. As fully developed scenes advance both the
novel and the short story, students will be expected to
write scenes between characters, learning in the process
what does and does not make story. This may also be
interesting to playwrights and screenwriters. Admission by
interview and work sample.
MAJOR READINGS
MASTERING FICTION WRITING, Kit Reed. One
screenplay and one novel to be announced.
