This writing course for students interested in reading and
thinking offers practice in the writing of prose forms such
as arguments, journals, fables, letters, interviews, in
response to a variety of readings.
MAJOR READINGS
Non-fiction prose by various writers
including some of the following: James Baldwin, Annie
Dillard, Etty Hillesum, Jamaica Kincaid, James McBride,
Adrienne Rich, Anna Deavere Smith, Arthur Zajonc.
EXAMINATIONS AND ASSIGNMENTS
In addition to writing weekly
papers, students will keep a writer's journal to be
collected periodically for evaluation and comments.
ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS and/or COMMENTS
Unless
preregistered students attend the first class meeting or
communicate directly with the instructor prior to the first
class, they will be dropped from the class list. NOTE:
Students must still submit a completed Drop/Add form to the
Registrar's Office.
