This course is essentially an extended application of the
economics of organization to the study of enduring
institutions of hunter-gather or societies, such as
reciprocal exchange, common ownership, and sharing.
Organizational theory is used to understand why these and
other institutions vary in form across different
hunter-gather societies. Time will be devoted to studies of
the ethnographic record.
