African Economic Problems in Historical Perspective

The economic accomplishments and shortfalls of post-colonial Africa will be analysed through such topics as marketing boards and export crops, agricultural production, industrialization strategy, multinational companies vs. native entrepreneurship, and microenterprise in the context of colonial heritage. The political economy of structural adjustment programs will also be analyzed.
