This course offers a close, critical study of Freud's
psychoanalytic writings through the major phases of his
career. We will be attending to individual texts, ongoing
issues, the cogency of his theoretical formulations, the
reasons for his revisions and the range of his relevance.
MAJOR READINGS
Extensive readings from STUDIES ON HYSTERIA
and the INTERPRETATION OF DREAMS through the structural
theory, including clinical papers, case studies, theoretical
papers, papers on technique, and papers on culture.
EXAMINATIONS AND ASSIGNMENTS
Papers. Oral presentations.
