This course surveys world literature from the Trojan War to World War II (1000 B.C.--2000 A.D.), placing it against some monuments of the Western (and Eastern) world(s) modern glosses and modern reflections, showing the dynamism and aptness of outstanding literary works, their historical development and philosophical changes, various methods of analysis, and the enduring strength of the skilled imagination.
