Topics to be based on teacher and student interests. Topics such as the extinction of the dinosaurs, why the night sky is black, the epidemiology of the AIDS virus, the nature of atomic reality, the impossibility of perpetual-motion machines, the birth of the universe, nuclear winter and high temperature superconductivity are examples of the kinds of topics that may be covered. These topics will be presented as one-hour oral presentations by the students.

MAJOR READINGS

The readings will be research material that
the individual students find to aid them in the presentation
of their seminar. All the students in the class will read an
introductory article on the topic to be presented. This
article will be chosen by the student speaker.

EXAMINATIONS AND ASSIGNMENTS

The grade in this course is based on the one lecture given by the student. It is also required that every student attend all the presentations.
