A primarily field course in natural history and ecology. The goals are to gain experience and develop skills in the following areas: identification of plants and animals, first-hand knowledge of a wide array of organism life histories, quantitative field research techniques and procedures applicable to plants and animals (e.g., population monitoring, competition, habitat relationships), and recording of data and observations in a field notebook. The course should be beneficial to those interested in virtually any area of research in biological sciences. Field trips are to local habitats and focus on seasonally relevant events and processes.
