This course explores black-and-white photography as an art
form. Classes will investigate available and artificial
light. Classes will involve some technical topics as well as
critiques.

recommendations.
EXAMINATIONS AND ASSIGNMENTS
Weekly submission of
photographic prints and reviews of three portfolios of six
prints each during the semester.
ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS and/or COMMENTS
Students must
supply their own camera equipment and tripod. Lab fee of
$100.00 includes chemicals and handouts.
SELECTION FOR PHOTO II:
Selection for photo II will be by portfolio review on
Wednesday, January 21, 1998, in J. Seeley's office, DAC,
from 12:00 noon to 1:00 p.m. and 4:00 to 5:00 p.m.
Enrollment will be during the Red Drop/Add period.
MAKE-UP OF PORTFOLIO FOR ADMISSION: Your portfolio should
include a minimum of ten exhibition-quality prints and
twelve rolls of negatives with corresponding contact proof
sheets. These prints and negatives must have been processed
by you. This is a minimum; you are welcome to submit
additional material.
If you have taken a basic photo course at Wesleyan,
negatives and contact sheets are not necessary; you need
only submit the ten prints plus any contacts, negatives and
prints produced since completing the course here.
Required lab sessions will be scheduled as much as possible
to fit student need.
Unless preregistered students attend the first class meeting
or communicate directly with the instructor prior to the
first class, they will be dropped from the class list.
NOTE: Students must still submit a completed Drop/Add form
to the Registrar's Office.
