This course will consider the arts in Europe and the United
States after 1945. We will be particularly concerned with
the explorations of new possibilities for visual languages,
with the criticism and theory that lay behind them and with
the citing of content in the work.

preregistered students attend the first class meeting or
communicate directly with the instructor prior to the first
