SPAN260
The Fantastic in Latin American Literature
SPAN260 FA
Crosslistings: LAST260
Next Offered in 9899 FA
The course will study the kind of reading stance called
forth by texts that challenge our conventions of normality.
We will look into the different relationships between the
fantastic and the verisimilar, which is determined by what
society considers normal. The works that will be read deal
with the fantastic in a variety of ways, ranging from the
apparently natural presentation of events to an awareness
of the clash between the state of affairs they deal with
and the rules regulating phenomena in the world.
