Sociology 305 is a seminar for senior Sociology majors. The course is organized around the theme "Interpreting America" in order to provide illustrations of research issues with reference to familiar social and cultural aspects of America, broadly defined. Students will be encouraged to develop their own thinking and research in relation to this broad topic. The purpose of the Sociology 305 seminar is to help Sociology majors develop their senior essay or thesis projects by introducing them to the technical challenges and practical problems of sociological research. To this end invited speakers will discuss their own research. The seminar meetings will be devoted primarily to helping students advance their own research projects.
