PHIL372
Spinoza's ETHICS
PHIL372 SP
Next Offered in 9899 SP
A close reading of one of the philosophical masterpieces
of the Western tradition. The ETHICS is of genuine
contemporary interest, with its metaphysics which combines
materialism with theism, its philosophical psychology which
anticipates Freud, and its attempt to reconcile human freedom
with a belief in scientific explanation. This is a
difficult, vast, profound work which requires and will
repay close study.
