This course will examine recent philosophical writings on ethics and on the role which literature can play in ethical reflection. We will read literary texts by Diderot, Henry James, and Virginia Woolf.

Two short papers and a longer paper.

IMPORTANT NOTE: Those registering for Section 02 will have additional assignments at a higher degree of difficulty. Unless preregistered students attend the first class meeting or communicate directly with the instructor prior to the first class, they will be dropped from the class list.
